3D Video (No Glasses Needed!) – Washing Out
Posted by: | Comments::: HOW TO VIEW IN 3D ::: Select how you’d like to watch the video from the “3D View Style” menu below the video. If you’re using 3D glasses then you’ll need to make sure have a good monitor with proper color settings. ATTENTION: Disney’s RealD glasses WILL NOT work with computer screens!!! To view without glasses (if you don’t have a pair of red/cyan glasses laying around) you’ll need to select either “cross-eyed” or “parallel”. CROSS-EYED: This is the method I use. It can be difficult for some people learn but it’s NOT impossible. It just takes a few minutes of practice. Then you can do it almost every time. You’ll need to SLIGHTLY cross your eyes so that the 2 videos overlap. You’ll know you’ve got it when you see 3 images. The 2 on the outsides will be kind of ghosty and the middle one will be in 3D (if you can see it without any blur). If you’re seeing 4 images then you’re crossing your eyes WAY too much. Trust me, you won’t really hurt or look half dumb if you do it right. Essentially, the right eye will be looking at the left image and the left eye looking at the right image. Again, it can be difficult to do if you haven’t had practice but you’ll be amazed at what you’ll see once you can! Try sitting away from the screen a bit and holding your thumb about half way between your eyes and the screen. You’ll notice that while you’re focused on your thumb, both of the videos will be overlapped. If the images aren’t overlapping then just adjust yourself so that they are …

1995 Virtual IO I-Glasses
Posted by: | Comments1995 Video of Virtual io’s I-Glasses. Virtual reality Head Mounted Display with headtracking. This was the first i-glasses version released and had much lower resolution than the i-glasses they sell today. Back in 1995 this was one of the first affordable home VR headsets along with the Victormaxx cybermaxx and the fortevr VFX-1. The small and lightweight design made it comfortable to wear, but the enormous cable from the VGA-box to the Computer, the box itself, the cable to the galsses and the power supply rendered it a too large package to really “take everywhere”. They still work fine today, but the maximum input resolution of 640×480 makes a modern Windows Vista Desktop appear a bit crowded. For today’s standards the resolution and color depth are a bit too low to really enjoy watching 3D movies, but astonishingly the recent “Avatar” game by james Cameron works amazingly well and the nice graphics don’t look as bad as you might think on the low res. If you have these then i recommend you try out the demo of the avatar game, just set screen res to 640×480 in the game, enable 3D and set 3D effect to “interlaced”. Really an excellent experience even with such an old device.
