Augmented Reality Game Example – Future of Augmented Reality Gaming
ByThis is one of the best examples and visualization of how augmented reality games will look like. the head mounted display will be replaced with augmented reality goggles or glasses and will overlay the added elements onto what you are seeing in real time and will allow you to interact with them.

Is this real? Seriously, is it? It’s pretty darn awesome… No way we already have the technology… People at VirtuSphere (google it) are wasting their time. Combine this with 3D that needs no glasses, cloud computing, miniaturization of game systems and motion/brainwave reading interface… BAM! We have arrived to virtual reality.

@MaxSmolax unfortunately not yet. but some companies out there are getting closer.
February 9th, 2011 at 11:45 pm
@jayquan15ify Some companies are getting closer but few of them showcase their progress. as a new technology (or new use of existing technologies, however you want to look at it), most of it is developed behind the scenes, and until the first company comes out with such a platform, especially a game, others wont show what they are working on. (e.g. only after ipad came out (as the 1st tablet in market, all other companies started showing the tablets they were working on before they were ready)

Lock the doors! Mix this with the Kinect and you’ll never leave the house again, unless you jump out of a window by mistake ! All the hardware is available now, just need a lego guide. (last 5 years) MEMS accel and gyro, Depth camera, atom/ARM/ 10GHz 32bit DSP chips with HW mpeg decode/wirelese ENET. ROCKING.

For the actual gameplay it looks like there using after effects xD But this is really quite amazing. I just wish USA made it. D:

Too bad this show got cancelled, it was terrific. I recommended all American viewers to watch it with english subtitles, its hilarious. The show is called “Mesudarim”, or “Set for Life”.

@MaxSmolax
glasses free 3D tech is not compatible with the AR concept.
April 16th, 2011 at 2:57 am
@vpamir glasses free 3d is not compatible with AR? how bout the 3DS? it does it very well.
April 16th, 2011 at 4:23 am
Tablet computers are the platform to make this type of A.R. gaming feasible.
Look at the RIM Playbook: Dual 1Ghz processors, full 1080p cameras front and rear. Imagine you hold the tablet in front of you to see the “battle field” rendered over the real image from the camera…

@SensesFailx13xx Yep, it does. What i meant was not that. You can’t talk about Virtual Reality on 3DS. The real application of AR will be on Virtual Reality systems.by using head mounted displays or some high tech contact lenses which we wear and see the real world through, which is augmented by software. The AR on 3DS now is just a mini game, nothing more. But it prepares people for what is coming next. We crushed Virtual Boy into the depths of history but in 10 years it’ll take its revenge.
